Local Directories and Why You Need Them!
Assuming you’ve read my post about what a directory is, I’ll spare you the replay. You know what a directory is but how about a “local directory”? You’re a genius if you said it’s a directory that specializes in local business listings. See the Google SERP below? Take a good look and tell me what you see. The search terms used were “printing 75229″. You get bonus points if you get this one right.
The Google 10-Pack is first, but below that you see 10 additional listings. Every single one of them is a local directory! But why aren’t any web sites showing up on Page 1? Apparently the directories are getting far more “Google Love” than any matching websites do. Hmmm.
What does that suggest to you?
If your genius status is still intact, the correct answer is that you need to be in all of the local directories. You also need to “claim your business listing” in the major search engines and any other SE’s that offer a business listing. So here’s how you do that.
1. Develop a comprehensive list of all of the local search directories. There are hundreds of them so don’t leave any of them out. Time needed to accomplish the task: most of this Saturday should do the trick.
2. Navigate to each directory one at a time and figure out how to submit your business listing. Good luck with that. Timeframe needed to accomplish this task: about 30-45 minutes PER directory, times several hundred directories.
Did this just become impractical for you? It is for everyone else too, so we’ve come up with a solution because we needed one to submit our information to the directories, too! We’ve developed a way to submit business data to all of the directories so you don’t have to. We also wanted a way to track the directories to make sure they posted our information accurately, and so we created that, too.
Once we finished the project for our business we decided to offer it to you, for your business. It’s simple, it works, and it comes with reporting to monitor the submission results. Give us a call and we’ll be happy to answer any questions you have.
Now you can do something else on Saturday!
