Did We Just Elect This? I Don’t Think So (Dallas, TX)
A good friend of mine on the east coast penned this the day after the election in response to my observation that he apparently had not gotten out to vote enough often enough this past Tuesday. I couldn’t agree more with his entire manifesto and I thought you might appreciate it, too. Whether you do or not, he’s still right!
…we have lost the ability to have civil discourse and our country has lost its moral compass. This election highlighted just how far down Maslow’s scale we have come. I agree that the Republicans have a problem. Their base is aging.
Here is my action list for every official that claims to represent me:
A) Change bankruptcy law to allow homeowners to work out and reset mortgages.
B) Redesign the tax structure so that those who are self-employed get a fair shake.
C) Create a flat tax system and end this mess. Imagine a smaller IRS (Save the taxpayers some money). Put more effort into enforcement.
D) Forbid lobbying inside the DC beltway.
E) Create a line-item veto.
F) Put the federal government on a diet. There are 102K open federal positions right now. 102k open positions. Do the math.
G) Teach the government the business of accountability instead of letting business lobbyists think for Congress and author Bills.
H) Get transparency in the financial markets.
I) Stop spending money we don’t have. Projecting tax revenue and spending it before we realize it.
J) Insist that if no child is left behind, they each learn the basics: Civics, personal financial management, and truth in advertising. Smarter people make for a better electorate.
k) Time to put term limits in play. Sorry. I just don’t like the idea of a career politician. Come out here in the real world and change careers several times over the arc of your life.
I don’t see anything in there about penalizing people who understand how to make money in a free-market system, or re-distributing those funds to people who refuse to work. Guess we know who Toby voted for, hmmm?
The 4 Rules For Clean Living (Dallas, TX)
My long-time, good friend, Mike Messerli, Associate Pastor Extraordinaire at Crossroads Bible Church in the northwest Lewisville area, came up with “The 4 Rules” a handful of years ago and I think it bears publication in this fine rag of a journal I call my own. What’s it got to do with growing your business? Everything.
Hope it helps you and yours.
The Four Rules:
1. It’s all about me.
2. Everyone else thinks Rule #1 applies to them also.
3. We all need a new god because the one we worship now isn’t working (see Rule #1).
4. Sin is defined as any attempt to re-institute Rule #1.
Mull that over for awhile and see where it takes ya. May God richly bless the whole lot of ya.
Recommended Business Lawyer in Denton-Lewisville-Frisco-McKinney, TX Area
Every small business should have a good business law attorney available to review things and so I do. Her name is Kristen Pannell and I highly recommend her to any small business owner or individual with business related concerns. She’s ambitious, listens well, makes good eye contact, easy to understand, takes notes while we’re talking, and doesn’t make me wait a week or two to get in to see her. She’ll also throw in a few smiles and a laugh or two at no extra charge.
She hails from the Dallas-Denton area, went to the Ursuline Academy for Girls, the University of North Texas for her undergrad work, then did her time at Texas Wesleyan for her law degree. You can’t go wrong with the home-grown, lawyer-girls!
Find her at the Hammerle Finley law offices in Lewisville-Denton-Frisco-McKinney. She’ll meet you at whichever office is most convenient for you and, yes, she’s affordable. Tell her I recommended her when you see her! Here’s her contact information.
