New Direct Mail Regulation Explained (Dallas, TX)

November 4, 2008 · Filed Under Direct Mail, Tracking Results · Comment

If you’re a direct mailer you’ll want to know about this little gem for several reasons:

New postal regulations will take effect on November 23, 2008. Under the new regulations, all volume mailers — both First and Standard Class — will need to make sure that their mailing lists are updated with the latest change-of-address data from the USPS. They will need to run their lists through an approved Move Update process (you can find this at Sir Speedy Walnut Hill!) within 95 days prior to their mailing in order to qualify for automation and other discounts. Previously, these rules only applied to First Class mailers, and even then they had to process their lists only once every 180 days.

Okay, what’s that mean?

1. It means that if you don’t run your list past the U.S. gubment’s list of addresses of people who’ve moved in the recent past, and update your list with any addresses that have changed, you don’t qualify for the postage discounts for that mailing.

It costs about .01 per address to have them checked and you stand to lose .10 - .20 cents per mailpiece if you don’t run your list through the NCOA database. Spend .01 or lose .10-.20?? Tough choice, huh?

Zebra Printing and Sir Speedy Walnut Hill Merge! (Dallas, TX)

October 29, 2008 · Filed Under Digital Printing, Offset Printing · Comment

Sir Speedy Walnut Hill, one of the fastest growing marketing and printing services providers in the Dallas/Ft. Worth area has purchased Zebra Printing, another local and very successful digital printing facility.

Former owner Jaime Joiner said,

“we’ve been looking for just the right partner company to merge with; one that could greatly improve our range of marketing-related service offerings. Once we sat down and talked to Phillip Crum and his partner/son Tyler, we knew there was some very exciting potential here and we decided, after much due diligence, to pursue a merger that was good for both of our operations.”

The two companies will officially merge November 1st and both Jaime and her Zebra co-owner, Sherry Briggs, will be joining the Sir Speedy team in very high profile ways. Sherry will be joining Phillip and Tyler in the new business development arena, and Jaime will be adding her considerable experience to the offset and digital production areas where she’ll work with Preston Crum, Digital Production Manager.

We’re very, very excited about this merger and we look forward to a long and profitable relationship with both Jaime and Sherry. Welcome aboard, ladies!
