JobSearchDocs.com Debuts to Help JobSeekers! (Dallas, TX)

Couple months ago I was having lunch with a friend who’s “in between opportunities” as they say these days. Since I have a room full of presses and digital equipment I offered to print him up some business cards, resumes, notecards, and some envelopes if it would help him or give him an edge, on the house of course. I just wanted to help in some small way.

About a week later the opportunity arose again with another unemployed friend and that got me to thinking just a little bit harder about how we could do our part in some small way to help the “recently liberated” find their next career gig and so an idea was born. http://www.JobSearchDocs.com

We decided to offer the same small package I was offering to friends, to others. We’re limiting participation to 3 organizations in the local area simply so we don’t go out of business overnite! Those organizations would be:

Any unemployed, card-carrying member of one of these groups is eligible to take advantage of our offer with no obligation to us whatsoever. Sure, we hope they’ll remember us down the line but that had nothing whatsoever to do with the genesis of this idea.

Take a look and forward this information along to anyone you know who’s working the job market. If they belong to one of the groups above we’ll be happy to provide them with the package which they can order completely online. Turnaround time on the package is 24-48 hours.

How To Legally Buy An Email Address List (Dallas, TX)

If the owner of an email address has to give permission before unsolicited email can be sent to him, how can you buy an email list? Ever wondered how that’s done? Isn’t there something called the Canned-Spam law that says you can’t do that? People that buy email address lists must be spammers, right? Well here’s how you can do it legally, and why it might not be worth the bother.

I’m no lawyer and I’m not dispensing advice but logic tells me, and after reading the Can-Spam Act for the umpteenth time that, if you could find a list broker that would sell you an unpermissioned email list, that transaction by itself would not be illegal. It’s the using of that unpermissioned list that’ll get you in trouble. Those emails must be permissioned first, and here’s how it’s done by the list services.

1. Submit your existing database or list to a company that compiles or resells lists and email addresses.

You can also buy a list from your provider then proceed to the next step.

2. Request an “email append” to your list.

You’ve just asked the list company to review your list and add the appropriate email address to each of the contact names in your list. This assumes the provider has the email address for each contact, which they will not! If they tell you they do you’re being fed a good story and you believe it at your own peril. People change email addresses faster than they change their socks so if they did have a complete list at this very moment, by the time you finish reading this sentence a substantial percentage of those addresses would no longer be valid. Complete list? Not gonna happen.

Networking Group, Link_DFW, Is Worth Your Time (Dallas)

August 3, 2008 · Filed Under Casino Night, Sales Training · Comment

Familiar with “Ning”? It’s a relatively new website that allows anyone to create their own, private, online social network. Why do that? More flexibility in access to other members, more freedom in creativity, things like that. If you’re a member of LinkedIn you already know the limitations imposed on the membership. While they’re in place for good security reasons they do place severe limitations on your access to each other, especially if you’re in it for the serious networking opportunities.

Enter Ning. Enter Chuck Zdrojowy. Chuck wanted just that; a bit more freedom and flexibility in his online networking efforts so he started his own version of what he thought the LinkedIns of the world should be offering him. Then he opened it up to the rest of us. Link_DFW is the local chapter and there are chapters springing up all over the country.

Local networking maven, Cher Lon Malik, spearheaded the creation of the DFW chapter and drives it’s monthly meeting. The meeting is free, you cover your own expenses at the cash bar. The meeting is usually held in a far North Dallas watering hole but occasionally meets elsewhere such as the planned boat cruise on Lake Grapevine in September, and Casino Night at Sir Speedy Walnut Hill in October.

Good people, upbeat tempo and atmosphere to the meetings, and a genuine understanding of what true networking is, and isn’t! I think you’d like it. Come visit us once and you be the judge. It’s free!
